Before diving into the setup process, let’s make sure you’re all set to get your Mac ready for school. There are a few simple steps to take care of first, to ensure everything runs smoothly as you go through the setup process.
Step 1 - Unbox and Inspect Your Mac
- Carefully unpack your Mac from its box.
- Ensure you have all the necessary accessories, like the power cable and adapter.
Step 2 - Plug in Your Mac

Step 3 - Power On Your Mac
- Press the power button to turn on your Mac. You’ll see the Apple logo appear as the system starts up.
Step 4 - Connect to Wi-Fi
- To get started, you'll need an internet connection. When the Mac powers on, you’ll be prompted to select a Wi-Fi network.
- Choose your home Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password if required.
- If you don’t have Wi-Fi at home, consider connecting the Mac to an Ethernet cable or use a mobile hotspot (if possible) for the initial setup.
Once your Mac is connected to Wi-Fi, you’re ready to move on to the setup process. From here, the Mac will guide you through the rest of the steps—everything from setting your language and region, to signing in with your Apple ID, and more.
